After their 9To5 Primer + Matte lipsticks (which I have already reviewed HERE), Lakme has newly added powder foundations to this range. This is Lakme’s first ever powder foundation with an in-built primer. It is meant to give all three benefits of a primer, foundation, and compact in one. It comes in a powder format and is available in 6 shades to suit every Indian skin tone, including deeper skin tones. I picked the darkest shade “Honey Dew.”

My Experience with Lakme 9To5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation Honey Dew
Packaging: This powder foundation comes in a round rose gold packaging with black letterings. It is housed inside a similarly-designed rose gold cardboard, keeping up with the consistency of Lakme “9To5” range. As usual, all necessary details are provided except the ingredients list. It has two compartments where the powder foundation is at the top and a sponge at the bottom. It has a clear big mirror at the back of the lid. There is a clear protective plastic sheet. The lid closes with a click, making it very secure to throw in the bag to take on the go for touchups. It has a perforated base, making it ideal to use the sponge wet as well.
Texture: The texture of this powder foundation is soft, smooth, and silky. With such a silky, smooth texture, the product should generally blend beautifully on the skin. But that was not the case with this one. An effort should be put to blend this powder well. Moreover, it does have powdery fallout every time the product is picked. It has a pleasant floral scent to it. Its matte finish is suitable for oily and combination skin.
Shade: This powder foundation comes in 6 shades. For the first time in Lakme face range, there are 2 new shades that best suits deeper skin tones.
Ivory Cream: has neutral undertones and is suitable for fair skin.
Rose Silk has pink undertones and is suitable for fair skin.
Natural Light has pink undertones and is suitable for fair to medium skin.
Silky Golden has yellow undertones and is suitable for medium skin.
Natural Almond has yellow undertones and is suitable for wheatish skin.
Honey Dew has strong yellow undertones and is suitable to dusky skin.
Performance: This powder foundation is a soft, smooth, silky powder. As the name suggests, it has an in-built primer, which makes the powder creamy and silky. However, it does not feel silicony. It gives different finish on different skin type. On dry skin, it applies chalky and clings on to dry patches. I recommend using this powder under a sunscreen or a heavy/sticky moisturizer that gives hydration to the skin. On a well-moisturized skin, it applies evenly and gives matte finish. It does not give white cast or make the skin flat matte.
This powder foundation has light coverage. Although it is buildable, it does not cover up any spots or dark circles. It could cover up a little bit of discoloration. For a powder foundation, this coverage is a serious letdown. However, its lightweight, silky texture makes it works great as a setting powder. It gives a considerable amount of coverage only when used with the sponge provided. With a brush, it gives no coverage. Moreover, there will a lot of powder fallouts.
This powder foundation settles over active acne scars and superdry patches and does not look flattering. It does not settle into fine lines but enhances open pores, so its in-built primer does not work. It has a very low staying power of 3–4 hours. Then my T zone gets oily. So, its claim of 9To5 wear time is not true! As an all-in-one primer, foundation, and powder, this powder foundation works well only as a mattifying powder by keeping the foundation in place and controls sheen. A powder foundation doing only the work of a powder does not justify even its price. Overall, this is not a powder foundation!

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Lakme 9To5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation Honey Dew
This powder foundation works well only as a regular compact powder on top of foundation or on no-problem, flawless skin. I was actually happy to find that Lakme has finally come up with shades catering to deeper skin tones. However, all my excitement went for a toss as it is no way near to its claims. Give it a miss!
