We all know “Lakme 9To5 Matte” lipsticks. These lipsticks are now reformulated with a primer and launched as “Lakme 9To5 Primer + Matte” lipsticks. This range consists of the same 30 shades as in “Lakme 9To5 Matte” range. They include a variety of shades such as pinks to reds to oranges to corals to browns to nudes. Moreover, they are highly pigmented shades that have rich and intense color payoff. If you have already used the earlier version, choosing a shade would not be a problem. This is the first time I am coming across a lipstick with a primer, so I am super excited to try it. I picked the shade “MP7 Rosy Sunday.”

My Experience with Lakme 9To5 Primer + Matte Lipstick MP7 Rosy Sunday
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a rose gold packaging with black letterings. It is housed inside a rose gold cardboard, keeping up consistency with Lakme “9To5” range. Unless you read the shade name sticker at the bottom of the tube or open the cap, the shade of the stick cannot be identified. With too many shades in your vanity, it would be really difficult, which is a downside. The cap shuts off with a click, making it travel friendly. Another downside is its flat head tip as it was so hard to fill in at the edges.
Texture: The texture of this lipstick is soft and smooth but not creamy. With a built-in primer, this lipstick glides on the lips effortlessly. There is absolutely no tugging or pulling. The silicone texture of a primer can definitely be felt in this lipstick. It gives a fine matte finish. It is absolutely nondrying. This particular shade is super pigmented. One swipe gives an opaque coverage to my pigmented lips. It might get cakey if applied too much. Like their 9To5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Colors, these lipsticks have a pleasant vanilla scent.
Shade: “MP7 Rosy Sunday” is a beautiful mix of pink and coral. As it has more of pink to it, this lipstick looks beautiful on my dusky skin tone. If you are bored of bright reds and pinks, this is the one for you. It has subtle undertones of red and brown. It is one unique shade that will suit all skin tones. The color transfers on the lips exactly the same as in the bullet.
Performance: This lipstick gives a fine matte finish. Its in-built primer truly preps and smoothens the lips, giving a nondrying, comfortable wear. It feels so soft and absolutely nothing on the lips. It is indeed hydrating on the lips. “MP7 Rosy Sunday” is a true matte shade with no sheen to it. This unique shade works well for all occasions and all skin tones. This lipstick glides on evenly and does not cling on to dry patches. However, prepping the lips will give the best finish for this matte lipstick. Moreover, it does not accentuate fine lines. This lipstick does not crease. Although it does transfer initially, transferring reduces considerably once it is set. Thus, the lipstick does not vanish off. Unfortunately, it settles into fine lines if worn for a longer time. It stays on for good 6–7 hours and can survive light meals. However, the color intensity decreases by every passing hour. In that case, I would not call it longwearing. This lip color fades evenly and leaves a nice stain on the lips. A makeup remover is a must to remove it. Overall, it is a matte lipstick lover’s delight!
