Sugar Cosmetics has recently added six new shades to their existing “Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick” range. They are an orange coral named 06 Coraline Jones, a mauve nude named 07 Viola, a reddish brown named 08 Jackie Brown, a peach named 09 Princess Peach, a cherry red named 10 Cherry Darling, and a brown nude named 11 Elle Woods. These shades are a combination of daring bolds and delicate nudes. Without a second thought I picked up a shade as I so very much wanted to try their crayon lipstick for a long time. I am actually stoked to have found a very pretty nude or everyday shade for my dusky skin tone.

My Experience with Sugar Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick 07 Viola (Mauve Nude)
Packaging: This crayon lipstick comes in a sleek, matte black packaging. However, it has a color-coded bottom to identify the shade. The brand and shade names printed in white against the black packaging give it both an edgy and an elegant look. The outer paperboard carton has a classy abstract art and contains all the necessary information, including the ingredients list. The cap closes tightly, making it travel friendly. It would have been better if the shelf life was printed at the bottom of the crayon. It is a sharpenable crayon, and it comes with its own sharpener.
Sharpener: Every Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick comes with its specially designed high-quality sharpener that is carefully crafted to fit this crayon lipstick. It has the highest quality blades that are reliable, consistent, and without peer. It contains a built-in cleaning stick with a smart holder that keeps your blades clean without getting in the way or lost. It sharpens this crayon lipstick with utmost ease and is absolutely mess free. Use this sharpener to get the most out of your Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick with its sleek, ergonomic design and strong build. Best of all, it comes free with every Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick!
Texture: The texture of this crayon lipstick is soft, creamy, and buttery. It has a powdery matte formula, which settles down to a true matte finish. It applies evenly and smoothly on the lips. It is highly pigmented. One swipe provides maximum coverage with the right amount of color. The color is buildable without feeling heavy on the lips. However, give a minute or so for the color to settle and then reapply another coat; else the color would keep moving. Moreover, the color would start to peel or crumble if layered on.
Shade: “07 Viola” is a gorgeous mauve nude shade. It is an excellent everyday color. It will work best across all skin tones. However, it would be a better MLBB shade for medium to duskier skin tones. As it is a mauve-toned nude, it will not make you look washed out.
Performance: This crayon lipstick is one of the most comfortable mattes to wear. It does not feel drying on the lips. It goes smoothly on the lips. It is so lightweight and feels almost nothing on the lips. It is neither hydrating nor drying. It does cling on to dry patches or accentuate them, so exfoliation is a must. It still looks pretty decent whatsoever compared to some of the other matte lipsticks including Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipsticks. This color is a perfect nude for my dusky skin tone. Its mauve undertones make this shade to suit deeper or warmer skin tones. This is the right shade to try if you are bored of pink nudes and brown nudes. It is indeed a versatile color as it can be teamed up with any look. The staying power of this crayon lipstick is incredible. It stays on for about 5–6 hours and even survived meals. It does not leave behind any stain. It is easily removable. It does not bleed or feather. It does not settle into fine lines or accentuate them. It does not have any smell or taste to it. It transfers minimally. I personally do not like sharpenable products as sharpening leads to product wastage. Other than that, there is absolutely nothing I dislike with this crayon lipstick. Moreover, this crayon lipstick is free of mineral oil, parabens, paraffin, phenoxyethanols, volatile cyclomethicones (D4, D5, D6), and animal-derived ingredients. Overall, it is a must-have, comfortable-wear, nondrying matte lipstick.
