Earlier last year, Maybelline launched their “Baby Lips Candy Wow” collection in five shades. Now they have included three more new super-saturated shades to this range. They are Blackberry, Grapefruit, and Cinnamon and are priced 10 rupees more than older shades. I have already used these lip balms, so I did not think much before buying new shades. However, as these are moderately tinted lip balms, I picked only “Blackberry” so that this color would show up on my pigmented lips.

My Experience with Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Blackberry
Packaging: Baby Lips Candy Wow comes in a chubby plastic packaging. The packaging represents the actual color of the product, making it easy to identify the shade. “Blackberry” comes in a cute purple pink packaging with yellow fonts all over it. You need to twist from the bottom to glide up and down the lip crayon, and it comes in a retractable form. Unlike other baby lips, these are sleek and long, and they also have lesser quantity.
Texture: The texture of Baby Lips Candy Wow is similar to the regular Baby Lips balm. It is creamy and applies smoothly. It has a glossy finish and is not sticky. Each shade is mildly scented with their respective fruity scents. It provides a nice glow to the lips.
Performance: “Blackberry” is a beautiful plum shade. It is a tinted lip balm that keeps the lips moisturized and also provides a sheer hint of color. It gives a light plum glossy hue to the lips. The output of this shade may vary depending on the color of the lips. This shade will suit all skin complexions. It will not be able to cover pigmented lips well. I have pigmented lips, and 2–3 swipes are needed to get a decent color payoff. Even then the lip color does not feel heavy on the lips. The color gets collected at the edges of the lips if swiped many times. It glides on smoothly and is easy to use. The rounded crayon shape makes the application precise. Initially, it covers up all chapped portions, but once the lip balm starts to fade, the color clings to those chapped portions. Thus, exfoliate your lips to get a perfect look. This lip balm provides hydration to the lips but does not treat or heal chapped lips. It has a yummy sweet candy scent, but it does not stay for long. The staying power is more compared to other colors in this range. The color and moisture stay on for 3–4 hours. Then reapplication is needed. This shade leaves behind a beautiful stain. It does transfer and cannot survive even light meals. Unlike older shades, this shade did not melt in the tube [I am not sure if there is a change in the formulation, but it is a big plus]. Overall, it is a good alternative to the usual plain, sticky lip balms.
