Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick Dark Review, Swatch, FOTD

Hello ladies,

Maybelline recently launched their V-Face studio range, and this range offers an all-in-one contouring experience that can give our face a 10% slimmer, contoured look, accentuating our best features. This range consists of Duo Stick, Duo Powder, and Blush. All my excitement knowing that finally Maybelline is introducing their contouring products in India vanished the moment I saw the shades being launched. None of the shades caters to dusky or darker skin tones. Anyways the highlighter in the Duo Stick attracted me, and I picked the shade “Dark.”

Price: INR 650 for 8 g [BUY HERE: Maybelline New York V Face Duo Stick Dark]

Shelf Life: 36 months

Product Description: Contouring with the Duo Stick adds dimensions to your face, creating high cheekbones and clearly defined jawlines which is perfect for everyday – be it work, shopping, weddings, parties, and much more! Experience ease with the dual ended stick with contour and highlighter that gives a one-stop solution to your perfect look.

How to Use/Apply:

STEP 1: Contour your face to define it. Use the darker end of the stick and draw in a “3” shape along the hairline, jawline, and under the cheekbones.

STEP 2: Highlight for an illuminating effect. Sweep the lighter end of the stick above cheekbones and on the center of the forehead, chin, and bridge of the nose.

My Experience with Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick Dark

Packaging: This duo stick is a dual-ended black tube with one end having the contour stick and the other end having the highlighter stick. Both the ends are secured with a pull-up cap. The see-through ends of the caps help in identifying the actual product. The packaging is sleek, sturdy, and travel friendly. The letter “V” symbolizing the V-Face range is printed on the tube in a classic way. You need to twist each side to glide up and down the sticks, and it comes in a retractable form. All information is provided only on the tear sheet and not on the actual product.

Texture: The texture of this duo stick is creamy and smooth. Both sticks blend effortlessly on the skin, even with fingertips. They are so lightweight and do not give dry and powdery look. They do not feel sticky or heavy.

Shade: “Dark” is the darkest shade in this range. This contour shade actually works as a concealer for me, meaning it is a tad bit lighter to my skin tone. I have no clue how to consider it as a contour shade. By the way, my foundation match is Maybelline Fit Me! 330 Toffee Caramel. I am totally disappointed as there is no shade for dusky skin tones.

Contour Stick: This contour shade comes in a stick form and has a creamy texture. It applies really smooth and evenly on the skin. It is nicely pigmented but definitely not a contour shade for most Indian skin tones. This shade will suit only fair to light medium skin tones. However, few swipes are just required for the true color to show up. This shade actually works as a concealer, not highlighting concealer, for me. It does not crease and looks very natural on the skin. As a concealer, it stays on for around 5–6 hours.

Highlighter Stick: This highlighter shade also comes in a stick form and has a creamy texture. It is super-blendable on the skin. It is a beautiful champagne shade with gold shimmers. It is nicely pigmented and does not have any chunky particles. It adds a nice shine and glow to the skin. It perfectly highlights the highest points of the face. This highlighter does not move from its place. The shimmers are not overpowering, and the glow looks so natural. It is so lightweight and works well for daily wear as well. This highlighter stays on for good 7–8 hours. I wore it for my brother’s engagement, and it was perfect throughout the evening.

The highlighter stick of Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick adds that nice glow to the cheekbones. Lips: Oriflame The ONE Lip Sensation Matte Mousse Soft Mulberry [reviewed HERE]

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick Dark

No, I will not recommend this duo stick as the contour shade is too light for majority of Indian skin tones and will do nothing for contouring.
