New Launch: Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolor 065 Constantly Cabernet Review, Swatches of All Shades, FOTD

Hello ladies,

The one counter I never miss to go while shopping is Maybelline. Every time I go and ask for any new launch, there will be one. Without any hype or fuss, Maybelline keeps on launching new stuff here. This time it was their “Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolor” range. This range consists of 10 shades, varying from reds to pinks to plums to nudes. I really liked all the shades in this range as they are bright and bold colors, ideal for the upcoming festive season. More than colors, I was drawn toward their claim of “24-hour super stay” and the “2-step application method of lip color and balm.” I picked the shade “065 Constantly Cabernet,” and let us get to know about it.

Price: INR 600 for 2.3 ml of lipcolor and 1.8 g of lip balm [BUY HERE: Maybelline New York Super Stay 2 Step Lipsticks, Constantly Cabernet]

Product Description: Meet the 24hr lipcolor that stretches the limits of longwear. No other longwear lasts longer. Period! Micro-flex formula glides on and looks gorgeous all day. No crumbling, no caking, no fading, no feathering, no transferring. Two steps in 1 convenient tube.

Instructions for Use:

My Experience with Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolor 065 Constantly Cabernet

Packaging: This lipcolor comes in a sleek white dual-ended tube with one end having the lipcolor and the other end having the lip balm. The lipcolor comes in a see-through tube, making it convenient to identify the actual color of the product, while the lip balm comes in a white tube. The lipcolor is secured with a twist-up cap, while the lip balm is secured with a pull-up cap. The packaging looks too classy, with the connector holding all the glossy prints. It is indeed a compact, travel friendly packaging. The sponge-tip applicator picks the right amount of product and is quite handy to apply the color on the inner corners. It is housed inside a plastic container, and all information is printed on it.

  • Lipcolor: This lipcolor comes in a liquid form and has a creamy texture. It applies really smooth and evenly on the lips. It is a bit thin and nicely pigmented. Single swipe is enough to give a full-on opaque coverage even on pigmented lips. Layering will make it heavy and patchy. There is no scope for mistakes as this lipcolor dries off pretty quickly. Lining the lips will solve this issue if you are doubtful.

  • Lip balm: This clear lip balm has a soft and balmy texture. It applies smoothly on the lips. This lip balm is so lightweight. It does not feel sticky and overly glossy. It keeps the lips hydrated and nondrying.

Shade: “065 Constantly Cabernet” is a proper plum color perfect for Indian skin tones. It is blue toned and has more of purple undertones. This color instantly brightens up my face; I am MAC NC 45 and Maybelline Fit Me! 330 Toffee Caramel! It is a must-have color for medium deep skin tones. I am quite enjoying this shade, which is quite appropriate for the upcoming festive season.

The following are swatches of all 10 shades available in this range:

Left: Swatches of Freshly Applied Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolors. Right: Swatches of Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolors After 2 Hours.
Shades (from top to bottom): 010 Reliable Rasberry, 100 Very Cranberry, 090 Timeless Rose, 065 Constantly Cabernet, 050 Unlimited Raisin, 025 Keep Up The Flame, 005 Everlasting Wine, 035 Keep It Red, 060 Won’t Move Mauve, 115 Forever Chestnut.

Performance: As the name suggests, it has a 2-step lipcolor application method. First, apply the lipcolor on the lips. As the color dries off quickly, it needs a proper and fast application. As it dries off, the lipcolor becoming very sticky and uncomfortable. It has a bit of sheen when freshly applied but settles down to a completely nontransferable matte finish in 2 minutes. Now is the time to apply the lip balm. It becomes so transferproof that there will be no color transfer even on the lip balm. No flaking, no caking, no fading, no drying, no transferring, nothing! The lipcolor is set on your lips for the next 24 hours; yes, the claim is so true!

The lip balm keeps the lips hydrated, making this longwear lipcolor so comfortable to wear. It does not highlight any fine lines on the lips nor does it settle into them. It can survive any kind of food. It never needs reapplication. However, the lip balm needs reapplication after lunch or after few hours to maintain the hydration. The lips will never feel drying; indeed the thought of wearing a lipcolor gets vanished as you can never feel it at any point of time. Moreover, this lipcolor stays perfectly without any mess.

Some may not like the glossiness of balm to a matte lipcolor, but it will eventually settle down to a matte finish. Avoiding lip balm and wearing just the lipcolor will not work. The downside is lesser quantity of lip balm compared to the lipcolor, because there are all chances of running out of lip balm far faster than the lipcolor. Another downside is removing the lipcolor from the lips. An oil-based makeup remover is a must. Even then it is very hard to remove the stain from the lips. Overall, it is a long-lasting lipcolor that does not fade or transfer.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolor 065 Constantly Cabernet

Super Stay 24 Color 2-Step Lipcolor range gets my vote! I like longwear lipcolors, and this range is excellent; probably, the best and affordable longwear ones in the market. This lipcolor has become my favorite, and I love how it looks on my lips. I just want to ditch all my lipsticks and stock up all lipcolors from this range; should I say anything about repurchasing 😉

    1. Hi Jessie,
All shades in this range are very pigmented and ideal for pigmented or dark lips. 035 Keep It Red is a true red color and will suit Indian skin tone beautifully. Unfortunately, there are no browns in this range.

  1. I actually purchased this product months ago. When in the store I was all set to give it a go but once home I got nervous. So much so that I was going to return it, lol. Once that return date passed I was now stuck with it so yesterday I decided to just go for it and now I’m upset with myself for not doing so from the get go. I’ve never been a big lipstick user because they all just seem to come off not long after applying but this one here? Whoa!! Many products claim this or that but the claim on this lipstick is 100% true.

As I applied the lipstick it did glide on but it didn’t take long before I started to feel the tightening which freaked me out, lol. I waited the 2 mins then applied the balm. I was blown away at 2 things. The balm did it’s job and there was absolutely no product transfer to it. It did take a few more mins for the balm to settle to where I could do the ‘kiss proof’ test but it worked. The shade I chose was #105. It complimented my skin tone very well. It’s a nice shade of pink but not a Barbie doll pink, at least not on me.

I agree. The balm is going to run out long before the lipstick but my solution to that? Use of my Eos balm. I couldn’t use the one I have thanks to my Lil fur baby girl who got a hold of it, landed out getting the bloody thing open and well, enjoying the taste of it before my husband could get it from her, lol so I used my Burt’s bees balm and that sort of worked.

The upside to this lippy is… as I said above, it does do what it claims. After eating and drinking it was still there. I did apply a second coat after eating just to see if layering worked and it did. It was still there even after brushing my teeth. And this morning, although the color had lightened, there was still enough on my lips to where I could go out of the house without reapplying. You DO have to use an oil based makeup remover to get it off so make sure you have some on standby.

The downside to this lipstick is the color selection. I’m not too big on bold colors. I was hoping to pick up a more neutral shade but from looking at the color choices, that’s not going to happen. Unless, of course, they decide to add more colors.
