New Launch: Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation 04 Honey Beam Review, Swatches of All Shades, FOTD

Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation 04 Honey Beam

Hello ladies,

Every season, Lakme used to launch their new collection during their Fashion Week. During the recent Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2016, Lakme added some more products to their new “Illuminating” range. The new additions are Illuminating Foundation in 4 shades, Shine Line in 3 shades, and some Shimmer Gel nail paints. As festive season is fast approaching, “illuminate and shine” makes absolute sense. As I loved their lip shimmer lipstick, I wanted to try their new illuminating foundation for that silky dewy finish. I picked the darkest shade “04 Honey Beam.”

Price: INR 750 for 15 ml [BUY HERE: Lakme Absolute illuminating foundation (04 Honey Beam)]

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation 04 Honey Beam

Packaging: This foundation comes in a clear plastic tube with a black pull-up cap. The actual product is housed inside a black tube, making it difficult to make out how much product is present. The best part is this foundation comes with an ultra-shiny silver pump. We should definitely take a moment to appreciate the packaging as it is so classy and attractive. Of course, we cannot expect less for the price it comes. There is absolutely no product wastage and messing up the bottle. The outer paperboard carton is also full black and contains all the necessary information, except the ingredients list.

Texture: The texture of this foundation is thin, smooth, and creamy. It is not runny and blends well. It is so lightweight that you will feel nothing on the face. It contains golden shimmers, which add glow to the skin. However, they are not gritty or chunky and do not show up much.

Shade: “04 Honey Beam” is the darkest shade in this range. As usual, it is not the best match for my dusky skin (I am a MAC NC 45 or Maybelline Fit Me! 330 Toffee Caramel). I have no clue why Lakme does not consider deeper skin tones. At least I am quite happy it has yellow undertones. Below are swatches of all 4 shades available in this range:

  1. Ivory Glow is a porcelain with pink undertones that suits extremely lighter skin tones.
  2. Natural Flare is a lighter beige with yellow undertones that suits lighter to medium skin tones.
  3. Beige Glimmer is a warmer beige that suits medium-tanned skin tones.
  4. Honey Beam is little darker than Beige Glimmer that suits medium to olive skin tones. As you can see, there are no shades to match dusky to deeper skin tones.

Performance: This foundation gives a light to medium coverage. It is not advisable to layer up this foundation. It applies very smoothly and evenly. It does not cover up dark circles and scars. It gives a silky, dewy finish, which looks so natural and flawless. It instantly brightens up the face. It adds a nice glow to the skin, unlike heavily highlighted face. The staying power is very decent for a light-coverage foundation. It lasted for 4 hours, and then my T zone had a bit of greasiness. When touched up with powder, it lasted for around 6 hours. With primer underneath, it lasted even longer. It is a great evening wear/festive foundation. It is suitable for all skin types. I am so disappointed that such a good foundation does not match my skin tone. Thus, I am mixing it a little with my other foundations and using it. It certainly works that way. Also it works great for me as a strobe cream to highlight my face. However, it does not serve me as a standalone foundation. Overall, it is a good foundation with bad shade choices.

Yes, go for this foundation for that silky dewy finish, resulting in visibly brighter-looking skin. I will not be repurchasing this foundation as this shade does not match my skin tone.

    1. Hi, Sushmita! If you are someone of my skin tone, then Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation in the shade “330 Toffee Caramel” is best! It is not overly matte and does give a medium coverage. I have a full review on the blog, please do check it 🙂
