Starting with a big THANK YOU for the humongous response I received from you all for my recent review on 06 Peachy Little Liars! It showed that like me you people were also interested in those two new shades added by Sugar Cosmetics to their existing “It’s A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipstick” range. Thus, I am here with the other new shade, a classic red named “05 That ’70s Red,” for you all. Like all other shades in this range, this gorgeous shade too did not disappoint me in any way. Another factor that calls me back to this lipstick again and again is it being free of mineral oils and parabens.

My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics It’s A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipstick 05 That ’70s Red
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a simple matte black rectangular tube. However, the outer paperboard carton has a classy abstract art and contains all the necessary information, including the ingredients list. The cap shuts off with a click, making it travel friendly. The bullet too swivels up and down with a click. The brand and shade names printed in white against the completely black packaging gives it both an edgy and an elegant look. The shelf life printed at the bottom of the tube is impressive as everyone will not be able to remember the dates or store the outer carton. I completely disliked its flat head tip as it was so hard to fill in at the edges, especially for a red lipstick.
Texture: The texture of this lipstick is creamy, and it has a gel matte formula. It applies evenly and smoothly on the lips. It is highly pigmented. One swipe is more than enough to get full-on opaque coverage. The color is buildable without feeling heavy on the lips. It gives a true matte finish.
Shade: “That ’70s Red” is a classic red shade with cool and pink undertones. It will work best for Indian skin tones. It is definitely not an everyday shade, as it is bold and bright. This lipstick brightens up my face instantly and looks gorgeous on me.
Performance: This lipstick has a lovely smooth matte finish and not the powdery matte finish. To be precise, it has one of the best matte formulas. This color is a perfect red for my skin tone. Its pink undertones make this shade suitable to even deeper or warmer skin tones. It has a bit of sheen when freshly applied but later settles down to a completely matte finish.
This lipstick does not feel drying on the lips. A nondrying, matte lipstick is a sure hit among matte lovers like me. It is so lightweight and feels almost nothing on the lips. The lipstick is not hydrating but does not dry out lips either, which is always a great quality in a matte lipstick. It is indeed amazingly comfortable on the lips. It does not cling on to dry patches nor accentuate them.
This lipstick has an incredible staying power. It stays on for about 5–6 hours without any significant fading. It even survived meals. However, it starts to bleed after a meal, which generally happens with a red lipstick. A lip liner will sort this out; so Sugar, it is time to bring on your lip liners 😉 After long hours, it evenly fades and settles down to a stain-like look. This bold color does not leave behind any color/stain on the lips, and it can be easily removed. It does not settle into fine lines. It has a mild vanilla fragrance to it. It transfers very little. Overall, it is a good addition to your red lipstick collection.
