Every season, Lakme used to launch their new collection during their Fashion Week. This year’s Lakme Fashion Week had the “Illuminate and Shine” theme and then came the new launch “Lakme Absolute Illuminating” range. This range consists of 2 eye shadow palettes, 15 lipsticks, and 3 eye pencils. As I am a big-time lipstick addict, I picked one of their lipsticks first, and it is named “Wine Gleam.”

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer—Wine Gleam
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a sleek translucent black tube. We should definitely take a moment to appreciate the packaging as it is so classy and attractive and also the best among all Lakme lipsticks. The outer paperboard carton is also full black and contains all the necessary information, except the ingredients list. The cap is semitransparent and shuts off with a click, making it travel friendly. The bullet too swivels up and down with a click. The brand name printed in white against the completely black packaging gives it both an edgy and an elegant look. The shelf life printed at the bottom of the tube is impressive as everyone will not be able to remember the dates or store the outer carton. I completely disliked its flat head tip as it was so hard to fill in at the edges.
Texture: The texture of this lipstick is soft, smooth, and creamy. It is loaded with shimmers, and they are noticeable but not chunky or gritty. It applies evenly and smoothly on the lips. This particular shade is super pigmented. One swipe can build up nice color intensity. It does not feel heavy and patchy with multiple layers. These lipsticks too have the same weird scent as that of their Enrich Satin lipsticks. I wonder why they add scents in a lip product.
Color: “Wine Gleam” is a proper plum or wine color loaded with blue and purple shimmers. It does not look bold on the lips and will suit all skin tones. This color brightens up the face quite nicely. Shimmers attract lots of light and give an illuminating feel, not a frosty look. The finish is more like that of a velvety shimmery lipstick rather than a glossy shimmery lipstick.
Performance: This lipstick is so shiny and gives a glamorous look. Though a shimmery lipstick, it is quite moisturizing and does not accentuate dry patches. Shimmers are not gritty and stay put on the lips. This lipstick does not crease nor settle into fine lines. It is easily removable. The color does transfer a little and can survive only snacks and beverages. It stays for around 4–5 hours without food intake, but after a meal, a prominent fading of color on the inner rim of the lips is visible. It fades evenly and does not stain the lips. The best part is shimmers do not residue. Overall, I really like this new illuminating concept, and this lipstick in particular.

If you are a shimmer lover and love shiny pouts, this is the one for you! It is definitely not for matte lovers and for those who do not like shimmery lipsticks. I might purchase some more shades in this range.
